Residential standing seam metal roof by Golden Rule Roofing Group

Residential roofing

A roof your family can count on.

Your home gets roofed the way Elliot would roof his own — 8 years on roofs, a former property inspector's eye for detail, and the golden rule as the standard on every job.

Systems we install

Three systems, done right.

Replacements, re-roofs, and new construction. We match the system to the home and the family — not the other way around.

01

Architectural shingle

The workhorse of North Texas homes. Modern architectural shingles combine curb appeal, hail resistance, and long service life.

02

Standing seam metal

Concealed-fastener metal roofs that shed weather, cut heat gain, and last decades — a smart long-horizon choice.

03

Tile

Clay and concrete tile roofs for the right architecture — striking, durable, and installed with the right underlayment and flashing details.

The golden rule, on your house

Roofed the way Elliot would roof his own.

Owner-operated by Elliot Thorpe — a former firefighter and professional property inspector who's spent the last eight years on roofs across Texas. That inspector's background shows up on every job: the small details that separate a roof that looks good from a roof that lasts.

“If I wouldn't put it on my own family's house, it's not going on yours.”

Every quote, every crew call, every walkthrough — through one owner who's directly accountable at 214-663-6108.

Beyond the pitched roof

Low-slope and flat residential sections, too.

A lot of North Texas homes have flat porches, additions, or dormers tucked into the main roof. Those low-slope sections need the right system and detailed flashings — not the same shingles as the rest of the house. We handle the whole roof, not just the easy parts.

How it works

A simple, three-step process.

  1. On-site roof assessment

Elliot walks the roof personally, photographs the condition, and lays out exactly what your home actually needs — repair, partial, or full replacement.

  2. Straight-talk quote & scope

You get a plain-English scope: system, materials, timeline, and a firm quote. No pressure and no jargon.

  3. Installation and final walkthrough

Our crew keeps the site clean day-to-day, protects your landscaping, and walks the finished roof with you before we call it done.

Homeowner FAQs

Good to know.

How long does a residential roof replacement take?

Most single-family homes are one to two days of on-roof work once materials are staged. Larger or steeper homes and specialty systems (metal, tile) run longer. You'll have a firm schedule before we start.

Shingle or metal — which is right for my house?

Both are excellent when installed well. Architectural shingle is the most cost-effective option and looks great on the majority of Denton-area homes. Standing seam metal costs more up front but pays back in service life, weather performance, and energy savings. We'll walk the roof and give you an honest read for your specific home.

How do I know if I need a repair vs. a full replacement?

It comes down to the roof's overall condition, not just the leak in front of you. A young roof with localized damage often gets a targeted repair. A roof with widespread hail damage, multiple failed areas, or advanced age is usually better served by replacement. After the assessment you get both options laid out honestly — including which one we'd choose for our own home.

Do you work with insurance carriers?

Yes — we're happy to be on site when your adjuster inspects the roof and to provide the documentation you need for your claim. The claim itself stays between you and your carrier; we're roofers, not insurance representatives.
